Merlot

It started with an idea that came to me about two years ago. Sometimes patterns come before the yarn, and some times the yarn comes first. This pattern deserved the perfect yarn in just the right colorway. It was one of those things that I would know it when I saw it. Last winter I found it.

A rich deep drinkable color that screamed my name...yeah I bought it all. I didn't know how much I would need I just knew I couldn't let this beauty pass me by, not after years of waiting.

I wish I could say I jumped right in as soon as I got the yarn, bit it never works out that way. I had other commitments and it had to wait just a little longer.

When the time came to wind this beautiful yarn I hoped I would do it justice. Sketch after sketch. Cable chart after cable chart. Swatch after swatch. All the elements came together

and the Merlot shawl was created. A clean Icord edge surrounds a delicate texture complimenting the complexity of each cable brings a balance, just like a glass of fine wine.
